Direct Line are fantastic - very good price each time I go with them (I alternate between them and other companies such as admiral each year to get 'new customer' discount) when I did have to make a claim on car insurance in 2018 they were excellent

Just a word of warning for anyone with Direct Line car insurance, don’t expect them to even investigate your claim unless you go hard at them, they just want to take the path of least resistance and settle every claim 50 50

Does that mean that twice a year I actually am commuting by car, or does it need to be more regular than that? My policy only covers me for social, domestic and pleasure and specifically excludes use for commuting

The options with Direct Line were to auto-renew, but receiving renewal documents 21 days before the date, or manual renewal, which I see says that cover will end on the appointed day I picked auto, on basis that it looked similar to LV I've seen posts covering other insurers where policies have auto-renewed without renewal quotes having been received, and want to avoid this
