I have to admit, I prefer the hotel aggregators When I'm looking for a hotel, I do check their websites but have never found a great deal (or even a slightly good deal) Australian hotels should create their own comparison website If the overseas websites are taking a 30% cut then their should be plenty of margin to build a highly competitive product

A lot depends on how much time you have to plan and research I use almost all of them In Australia: hotelscombined (which includes booking com, agoda and others), wotif, expedia, Goldenchain (join their club for 10% off) and others The only one I rarely use is Trivago; they have a limited Aussie range But I often don't book via those I use them to discover the best value for money
