You've essentially forced anyone who wants to install mysql 8 and use lower_case_table_names=1 to download source, compile and initialize the system themselves

A file cannot be uploaded more than once with the same filename The filename must be changed before attempting to upload the file again The filename should always start with mysql-bug- prefix Files are retained on the SFTP server for 7 days and then permanently removed

I see the logic in this being a docs bug, and it should have been documented and or added to the changelog However, this is a major change and should only be done in a major update (unless it's security related, which I don't believe is)

IMHO this is not a bug, unique_checks=0 is only intended to be used when you know that data doesn't have duplicates and documentation is pretty clear on this Quoting from the manual " If set to 1 (the default), uniqueness checks for secondary indexes in InnoDB tables are performed
