I need some help: My R1S has been at the service center for 5 weeks of the 2 months I’ve owned it The first failure was 3 weeks into ownership for driver side rear half shaft (May 14 th) while on vacation (~1,100 miles on it), this left the car in limp mode but able to drive so we cut our vacation short and drove it to the service center

I went through the (somewhat painful) range learning curve when we first got our Rivian (Quad R1S) last December It is our first full EV, though we've had a PHEV (Audi A3 e-tron) for a few years When running around town and not succumbing to the urge to scare everyone in the car with the accelerator, the stated range is generally pretty spot on

Tesla handled all in my driveway per their mobile service with little to no charge Rivian on the other hand charges for minimal service For a typical 15K+ initial maintenance service; Rivian initially told and sent to me an estimate for $160 That service would be in their center and could take all day (so leave the Rivian please)

I believe Rivian's range estimates assume efficiency from about 2 5 to about 2 85 miles per kWh, depending on configuration and rim tire size That's barely achievable for most of us, because we don't WANT to drive for optimal efficiency range Rivian has a reputation for at least reasonable integrity in their range estimates Best wishes!
