I was originally looking at the MI MCTAR-17G2, but Midwest confirmed it will not fit the AR556 because of the delta ring Was told the Magpul MOE SL will fit fine I like it a little better the the old style Seems to look more streamline with the base going under the front sight and gas block

Yes, you need the carbine length handguard The Magpul MOE with M-LOK is certainly an option I have one on my AR 556 Magpul makes handgrips that are M-LOK compatible These will attach to any M-LOK rail or handguard without additional hardware They attach through the rectangular slots using T nuts on the inside of the handguard

You just need to thread it through the handguard part just like the vertical grip before clicking the two pieces together (basically have access to the inside of the handguard) and the small plate will keep it secure
