Just to be clear: I have no Garmin or other GPS equipment, no hardware or software, I just have Basecamp installed on my Windows laptop From what I understand, you should be able to upload the maps from the Garmin OpenTopoMap website to Basecamp and view the maps in Basecamp Is that correct?

Some time after that Garmin officially unofficially (I forget) declared MapSource "dead" PS: MapSource was around for some 10 years BaseCamp has been around 8 (with no update to the PC version for a year or so) Basecamp, more or less, does the same thing as Mapsource did It doesn't make much sense supporting two programs that do the same thing

Basecamp is still the SW for route planning As fa as I know there is nothing else from Garmin I would say that the problem creating a route btw Barcelona and Basel is a problem of the map you use With the official Garmin maps I never found a problem routing very long distances If I try to do the same with my bycicle map then it's impossible

Yes, it's fairly simple a least for Garmin software First, backup (not export) your database to a thumb drive Now install BC from the Garmin website (or from the Basecamp exe file of whichever version you may have saved on your old machine) to the new computer, then restore the data from the thumb drive into the new BC
