- Is rustdesk right for me? : r rustdesk - Reddit
RustDesk is better hosted in Linux and then when managing a lot of systems Also, going the Tailscale route allows you to keep ports closed on your home router to reduce attacks through the open ports that RustDesk and AnyDesk need

RustDesk has a web interface from what I saw, as every port is forwarded can this then be accessed from outside my network too? Could this web interface be proxied? What exactly do I need the API key for? Does this authenticate my client with the server and is required or is it an "optional" thing to encrypt traffic?

- is it worth to use Rustdesk ? : r rustdesk - Reddit
Also, so long as you run your own RustDesk relay signal server and lock it down to the server id pub key, it should be a very secure solution! Hope this helps! EDIT: KeePassXC even has a DB "Export to HTML" option so, theoretically, you could easily set up a static webpage!
