I had this issue nearly 2 months ago,I returned my new z1 for a z1 open box and decided to fix the issue the same way The joysticks internals are tiny as hell but I did not feel like exchanging or rma You could buy the replacement for 13 dollars It was definitely a relief afterwards

Today I did the firmware bios update and immediately upon reboot it was up down only on the joystick and no left right Well that is the beauty of getting it direct from Best Buy You don't have to ship it anywhere Just take it down to them and exchange for a new one Glad you got yours working!

Just happened to me, it just came out of the box, and the left joystick did not work on the sides: It's not related to software So I disarmed it and followed your steps and it now works correctly

I just bought the Ally today and the right stick was drifting during setup so I had to calibrate it before proceeding to update all the - 1038612

Opened up the ally joystick and noticed that the plastic piece that tranverses the left right sensor slide mechanism had broken off I need to find a replacement joystick assembly I saw a reddit post which indicated that the joysticks on the ally are identical to the win gpd 4
