- Whats the difference between 2 A and 10 A charging options?
My battery charger has a 2 A and 10 A option What's the difference? If 10 A is more and faster, why not just put the 10 A option?

Fairly straightforward question, would I be able to charge my car battery with a DC power supply that outputs 12V 2 5A? I know real car battery chargers put out 12V 10A Would it just take 5 times

A diode will stop reverse current flow A well heatsunk 10A diode MAY survive I'd recommend a 20A diode or 2 x 10A in parallel OR a MOSFET wired to act as diode - ask if interested A diode will drop about 1V so at say 15A it dissipates 15W That's equivalent to a resistor of R = V I = 1V 15A =~ 6- milliOhms, so a MOSFET with around say 10 milliOhms om resistance will dissipate far less

Just disconnect the large cable from the battery positive post that goes to the alternator, then put the 2 probes of your multimeter in between them with the multimeter set to the 10a current range like before

@Paulster2 Added some details in question I am planning to check current drain with engine off tomorrow after getting battery charged I am thinking of putting my Multimeter (in 10A mode) in series of -ve terminal of battery How much drain current is normal when car parked? To my knowledge of a battery drops under 10 volts on start then it is unhealthy and need recharging replacing However I have just read another answer where it states a battery with a dead cell can
