Royal Blue doesn't refer to the bluing chemicals used, which were the same for all of Colt's handguns It referred to the mirror-bright hand-polished finish, which was applied to guns like the early Pythons The Government Model and National Match had bright polished flats but they also had sandblasted matte rounds, and they were simply listed as "Colt Blue" The ones with an actual Royal Blue
