  • Range Report - 308 Win, 208 AMax, RL17 | Snipers Hide Forum
Re: 308 Win, 208 AMax, RL17 Surprising to see that the velocity is a bit low for the amount of powder Just wondering if the bullet grains is too heavy for it For my 208 AMAX in 308 stick with 44 grains of RL15, I got about 2650 fps For my 243 stick using the 105 grains bullets (amax) at 40 4 grains of RL17, I get about the same velocity as 40 6 grains of N550, which is 3000 fps

Re: Hornady AMAX Match vs Federal Gold Medal Match Federal Gold Medal Match (FGMM) is the standard generally by which all other match ammo is judged It is pretty uniformally consistent and capable of producing extremely good accuracy if the rifle and the shooter are also capable $17 box of 20 is as cheap as you'll find it anywhere Actually $18 box + S H is the cheapest I have heard of
  • Advice: A-Max in . 300 Win Mag - Long Range Hunting Forum
I haven´t used the amax in a 30 cal, just in a 7 rm Out of those two I´d go with the heavier Amax, it is a light construction bullet and with the 168 I´d say you run a bigger risk of an externally exploding bullet not penetrating enough The 162 7 cal has performed well in mt goats from close range out to 500 m Just try not to hit heavier bones at close range For me they´ve worked well

Past that the amax shoot lights out? Trying to develop a load using the 140VLD's to replace the amax so I can get a long range load using the bergers and the accubonds for closer Any luck with amax on big game at ranges 400+ in case the bergers don't shoot Or just stay away from amax for hunting and stick with them for targrt Click to expand
