ATF+4 is pretty much a dealer item From what I understand there is difference and it may not be a good idea to try to substitute ATF+3 Call around to your local Chrysler,Dodge and jeep, dealers for the best price

Well Amsoil recommends their Multi-Vehicle ATF for ATF+4 applications, and their Fuel-Efficient ATF for Toyota WS applications This doesn't stop others from debating the ATF+4 compatibility though

MaxLife ATF looks like a competitor to Amsoil and it is actually certified for use in Toyota Aisin transmissions, but it just doesn't get the same level of rave reviews and people claiming it fixed existing issues So I still think it's pretty much between OEM Toyota WS, Amsoil SS ATL, or Idemitsu's synthetic WS

After doing research literally over years, I'd recommend that you just stay with Honda approved DW-1 ATF Sure, you can save a few pennies by using MaxLife or spend more by using Amsoil, Redline, or another boutique fluid

So what are these fluids? Well, the Mopar 68089195AA BW44-45 and pre-2016 transfer case fluid is essentially Dexron III ATF with an Allison approval, but you can use and Dexron III ATF to replace it The one in the Mopar bottle is Shell Spirax S2 ATF A389 The Mopar 68049954AC BW44-40 and +2016 BW44-44 transfer case fluid is Mobil Fluid LT

A long time ago, Beck-Arnley was recommending CHF11s as an ATF substitute In this application, ATF and CHF are both hydraulic fluids, which CHF being closer to a pure hydraulic fluid than ATF which is heavier and has more additives for lubrication and power transmission
