- My wisdom teeth surgery is tomorrow and I’m having general anesthesia . . .
You'll be fine! I've had general anesthesia once and right before I got some meds that took the anxiety away and made me dizzy and forget everything that happened right before surgery The anesthesia felt like nothing really Not like dreaming, just a cut completely lost from consciousness, then waking up in the post-op room
- Any M4s matched anesthesia with little no research? - Reddit
Matched anesthesia yesterday I've never done any anesthesia specific research, but I was involved with a couple basic science projects in my gap year M1 (posters and talks, no pubs) My home anesthesia program doesn't have a huge research output, but I was able to spearhead a QI project for the department in M4 which I think helped demonstrate commitment to the specialty I had a good season
- How realistic is it to match into Anesthesia or Rads as a DO?
The match data for radiology and anesthesia looks horrible, but it’s a complex situation Both of these specialties are seen as backups for more competitive fields like ortho or derm They’re also seen as reaches for people who are decent applicants to IM but a little below average for rads gas This really skews the data

- Competitiveness of Anesthesia Residency? : r medicalschool - Reddit
Anesthesia is getting more and more competitive, not sure if we've peaked yet This is partly because of the good lifestyle and insane job market right now (think starting 500k for new grads no fellowship) My advice, do well clinically, try to honor in clerkships For Step 2 this is where you can really separate yourself Other than that research isnt as important in our field but is a place
- Anesthesia Risk of Death for healthy individuals? : r Anesthesia - Reddit
The estimated rates from anesthesia-related deaths were 1 1 per million population per year (1 45 for males and 0 77 for females) and 8 2 per million hospital surgical discharges (11 7 for men and 6 5 for women) The highest death rates were found in persons aged 85 years and older That's it That's the risk of dying under anesthesia
- People who had surgery, what did anestesia feel like? What did . . . - Reddit
OH MY GOD I’m one of those people who reacts poorly to sedation but great to general anesthesia, so my hardest part of surgery is the pre-op And any twilight sleep situations are horrific for post op The passing out was like taking a Benadryl nap, but the surrounding moments are a trip
