- I’m having surgery with general anaesthesia and I’m scared.
I mean realistically something could happen General anesthesia is very powerful About 5 in 100 people experience moderate complications from anesthesia, like nausea, vomiting, allergic reactions, unexpected awareness during surgery ( which can cause ptsd) and cognitive impairment lasting less than a week

Anesthesia always imposes a risk, but the risk is low in a patient with low ASA - essentially, they have been deemed healthy without systematic disease Ensure the clinic performs dental radiographs, pre-op bloodwork, and has RVTs to monitor while under anesthesia The first two would be on an estimate

OH MY GOD I’m one of those people who reacts poorly to sedation but great to general anesthesia, so my hardest part of surgery is the pre-op And any twilight sleep situations are horrific for post op The passing out was like taking a Benadryl nap, but the surrounding moments are a trip
