In my opinion, Anohana would fall under the second category The characters don't feel annoying in a grating way, but they can understandably feel annoying as people in their interactions with others I don't think this should make you think it's a bad show, simply because it makes you feel anger Do you dislike a show for making you feel sad?

Anohana at it's core is about the development of the characters If the only thing against this show so far is how much the characters bug you, that will change However, the show more or less keeps with it's slow pace throughout, so don't be expecting more on that front
