Shared topology: In the CAD program you can introduce shared topology for both the bodies With shared topology ansys mesh will mesh both the bodies as if they were one I use spaceclaim and it is straight forward in spaceclaim But I am not sure about design modeler Try and let us know how it goes

It is because you created the mesh in 3D by default you have to save mesh in 2D, to get 2D solver option Did you mesh with Ansys default mesh module or ICEM, try to save as 2 D mesh You can save as 2 D mesh in ICEM by default you created 3 coordinate node points «
