- Common cylinder sizes | WeldingWeb - Welding Community for pros and . . .
Zap has posted a link to this in the past but for the lazy SOB's who ask anyway, here are the sizes of cylinder most common to find at home or in a small shop Please note dimensions are from base of cylinder to base of valve Cu feet listed is for argon and will vary slightly with different
- Looking for a used Argon bottle. . what other bottles will work?
If you want an argon cylinder, anything with a # 580 style valve will work for you Those are used for the high pressure gases such as argon, helium, nitrogen and the like
- Help IDing shielding gas cylinder - weldingweb. com
Of the high pressure tanks that exist in my area, they can be a myriad of colors, the color means very little and a high pressure tank differentiates very little whether it contains argon, various percentages of argon and co2, helium, tri-mixes or a host of other gas combinations or straight gas type compositions
- Argon vs CO2 for MiG welding
Argon mix is great gas for welding It depends on welding you doing and cost Machine shops love the mix for a nice looking weld Fencing companies like CO2 for cost savings I was in structural steel so I used fluxcore w CO2 not best savings but did produce a high quality weld Dave HF 170 welder * HF 4x6 band saw * 8" Lathe * CB CALL SIGN
- Can you mig steel with 100% argon? - WeldingWeb
C25 ( 75% CO2 25% Argon ) and straiaght CO2 are both used on mild steel for general and certifed welding Straight argon can be used on a mig for stainless and aluminum and Their maybe other argon mixes that may work better but I am not fimilar with them
- Argon vs Argon CO2 flowmeter? | WeldingWeb - Welding Community for pros . . .
Argon has a molecular weight of 40 while CO2 has 44 The molecular weight is directly related to the density of the gas So 75% Argon and 25% CO2 mix has an average molecular weight of 41 That means that compared to pure argon, 75 25 mix is 2 5% more dense So about 2 5% is how much the flow meter will be off So no difference in real life What I don't know is if the flowmeter will show too
- mig welding stainless. . . . . . . with 75 25 gas. Can it be done????
I have a small crack in a stainless sink In a pinch, is it possible to get away with 75 25 argon co2 mix OR, straight argon??? Thanks, Pete
- Different diameter CGA-580 Argon connectors???
You and Oldiron2 hit the nail on the head, since this particular Argon regulator came bundled with my new SIMADRE 3-in-1 50A Plasma Cutter 200A Tig Arc MMA welder! The nipple definitely looks to be a standard CGA-580 type, but I bet you the male nut is actually a CGA-540 oxygen part!
