Frank, thanks for your response The plant is in my garden, I bought the house 18 months ago and the first 9 months was building, renovations etc so took little notice of the garden Was surprised to see this year garden plant really taking over a couple of areas It grows to about 7 or 8 feet and in my mind is a bit bamboo like from the root area I had assumed that the plant was spreading
