The screws on the Bendix drive need to be tight and the lock tabs bent tightly against the bolts Trying to force it can destroy your Bendix drive and or bend the starter shaft, rendering your new starter useless

- Technical - FE 153 tooth flywheel and newer starter
I question if the correct bendix is on it because it makes quite a bit of whine when starting I know there is a bendix made to fit the late starter which will work with the 153 tooth flywheel, but how can I conform I have it? The ring gear looks great and the pinion on the starter does too, but i dont think it's that old Click to expand

I picked up an odd Bendix Stombergberg WW carburetor with side draft (front-rear) air intake I think it went to a Buick or Studebaker perhaps in the 50's but have found little on them The base lines up with a Speedway conversion plate for a 85hp Ford flathead, 4 bolt to 3 bolt I wanted a carb with a vacuum choke which this seems to have

Box Truck Bastards H A M B Chapel If what you want to do is use a late model starter with the old flywheel, you can get a Bendix drive from Marc"s One in Phoenix part #8800 that you can put on your late model starter that has the proper teeth number to mesh with the old flywheel I think its actually a tractor part but works on the FE

Found from a Chilton's manual, every 6 months you're supposed to inject 1oz of Neats Foot Oil into the booster if the original Bendix vacuum cylinder oil cannot be found
