Hi Bill, thanks for your reply, My Laptop is an HP Aspire E15 E5-511-POBM My problem was that I could not break the loop nor get any other screen to progress through "automatic repair loop" As I didn't have a recovery disk I down loaded a copy of 8 1 from Microsoft on to my Desktop PC and burned a copy
