Whenever I attempt to open either the Command Prompt or PowerShell terminal within Visual Studio Code, the terminal window closes automatically after a few seconds, and I receive an error message

If I change the default terminal to command prompt, or git bash, receive the same message but with the address for that specific terminal The rest of my computer is fine, and it only happens with the Python extension enabled

I have read the troubleshooting guide I am sure this issue is with the extension itself and does not reproduce in a standalone PowerShell instance I have verified that I am using the latest version of Visual Studio Code and the PowerShell extension If this is a security issue, I have read the security issue reporting guidance

I’ve recently upgraded to the latest Windows Terminal version (1 8 1521 0) Today after a well overdue restart of my computer, opening Windows Terminal with PowerShell configured as my default profile presented me with [error 0x800700c1 when launching `C:\Program Files\PowerShell\7\pwsh exe’]

I believe I figured out a solution; VSCode didn't seem to like the location of my PowerShell installation at "C:\Program Files\PowerShell\7\pwsh exe" It probably had to do with the space in the path
