Sometimes, corrosion or debris can build up on the contacts and prevent the batteries from providing power to the device Note that if a poor or faulty battery has caused corrosion, the acid from the battery can get inside the controller circuit board and prevent power being transferred If left for too long it will burn though the circuit board

Check battery contacts: Clean any corrosion or debris from the battery contacts on the controller and in the battery compartment Try different batteries: Ensure they're not low or incompatible Charging cable: Use a different USB cable: If using a wired controller, try a different micro-USB cable to rule out cable issues

Another easy way to identify damage is to see if there are cracks, corrosion or leaking from the battery You can also check the output voltage of the battery using a multimeter

It would be better to get the xbox checked for corrosion before using it again, it may be ok, or may need a small repair but if turning on and not checked coudl make the entire situation worse

Typically if a battery leaks, it will just cause corrosion, and you'll usually see evidence of that inside the battery compartment, on the battery contacts I would try and get through to Xbox support about this, because sometimes companies will get you to send in the faulty product so they can investigate the cause of the damage
