I recently got an external SSD that has USB 3 1 and decided to run CrystalDiskMark tests against all the storage drives on my system I tested everything from my NVMe PCIe drive to my HDD SATA drive and I thought it might be interesting to share the results and get some commentary I'm running

The mouse (touchpad) and keyboard are PS2 I ran CrystalDiskMark on all possible combinations for two external drives Phew! That come to 24 individual tests! I had Task Manager running "on top" just out of curiosity during the tests To my surprise I never saw CPU usage above 3% or memory usage above 1 29GB This must be a really light weight

CrystalDiskMark uses Microsoft's DiskSpd which you can download and use the cmdline to run tests manually diskspd ? For options switches diskspd -b1M -w100 -c1G -o16 -Sh write_test dat > write_test txt Would write with a 1MB block size, 100% write workload, to a 1GB file with 16 threads and direct I O, parsing the output to a text file

For the drive, ignore UBM What specific drive is this? How is it connected? Run CrystalDiskMark, and post that screencap here

I've ended up with a PC that refuses to boot - gets as far as the "Starting Windows" screen, waits for a while and reboots - repeatedly Starting in Safe Mode, it gets as far as ClassPNP sys

I was running CrystalDiskMark on a couple of SSD drives Both the exact same drive, but one seemed a little slower than the other for some reason I probably ran the CDM benchmark about 30 times on each SSD Now I've seen some posts where people say you shouldn't run a lot of SSD benchmarks -
