- Cheaper Strings: Darco, Webstrings, et al - Acoustic Guitar Forum
I haven't used Darco before, but I just ordered a 6-pack of the light gauge 80 20 strings from Musician's Friend on sale for $15 Hopefully they're not too bad but it seems hard to lose at that price (NFI) I usually order the Martin Originals M150 80 20 Medium strings when they go on sale Usually about $4 a pack after tax No complaints on these

Darco strings sound wonderful and just as good imo as the Martin Authentic SP’s I used to use In fact when Martin changed from the old SP’s that had flashed bronzed treble strings to the tin plated new Authentic version I switched to Darco because the newer SP sounded tinny in the highs yet lost some presence in the lows _____

- The Marin Backpacker nylon strings Mystery - Acoustic Guitar Forum
Thank you for your reply I ordered the Martin strings 260, which are "normal tension" So, basically, Martin writes on its web site that the Backpacker nylon is stringed with Darco High Tension strings, then writes on the guitar's label that the guitar should use only extra light strings, while Martin Customer Service suggests to use Martin normal tension strings

- So Who Actually Makes Strings? - The Acoustic Guitar Forum
I'm not sure of the history and trajectory of the Darco brand of strings within the larger history of C F Martin Co I do know that for decades Darco has been the budget brand of strings Martin makes and markets: for about ten or twelve years I was a Martin telemarketing dealer, which meant that I could get strings and accessories like
