What would cause my Murry lawn mower to shock me through the handle while it is running? It has a 4 75 HP Briggs, just put a new E3 plug in it gapped at 030 When I started it I was getting shocked through the handle Never had this problem before

The picture is a 1947 CO-OP E3 I took the nose strip to the paint shop and they matched it on a computer and mixed me up two gallons I have never seen a paint code for the early CO-OPs

No 3 is USA built and E3 is Canadian built Lots of E2, E3, E4 E5 or Cockshutt versions around my but very few No 1, No 2 No 3 The No 3 is a 6 cylinder tractor while the No 1 2 are 4 cylinder same as the E3 or 30 The E series does not use the word Number in the model like the older ones do

1 Try a NEW plug Preferably something that is name brand, not a 'first fire' or 'E3' (I see a lot of those that look pretty good but won't do a thing in the engine ) Cleaning a plug is pretty much a thing of the past And one with an invisible short to ground will run you in circles If it still won't fire on starting fluid, and yet you have spark at the plug wire, Either you don't have

E2 is 1982 and E3 is 1983, so the tractor was likely made in the time period that the 445 was made, but no way to know for sure without the other numbers stamped into the flat spot near the starter

As for the power steering on th e3 cylinder 4000, there were two different power steering designs on the 3 cylinder 4000 ag chassis tractors The early ones, up to 3 70 had a cylinder down the left side of the tractor along the length of the single tie rod After that they switched to a system with the cylinder inside the steering column
