Elmiron is Pentosan Polysulfate Sodium, and there is a supplement that contains natural pentosans called Slippery Elm Bark There are articles on the web of this supplement being used on cats and dogs with bladder diseases I started taking 400 mg (1 capsule) three times a day, and have been pain free since, plus I am very careful with my diet

There is no generic Elmiron because there is not enough demand for it to be profitable I have done a ton of research on finding Elmiron from out of country pharmacies and its all been a dead end Imprimis pharmacy in California is compounding pentosan polysulfate They do it in a twice daily dose, either 150mg x 2, or 200mg x 2

Hi all! Has anyone noticed weight gain or having a difficult time losing weight while taking Elmiron? I've been taking it for 9 months now and just feel like as hard as I try, I cannot lose weight! I was doing so well up until I started taking Elmiron I had lost 65 lbs But slowly gained back 15 of them since I was diagnosed with IC It is just frustrating and wondered if anyone else is going

There are other medications you can take in combination with Elmiron or by itself For my IC the only medication that I can take is Elmiron as I am on Coumadin ( which is a blood thinner) and it doesn't interfere with that
