- What does a flywheel do and what is it connected to?
A flywheel is a rotating mechanical device that is used to store rotational energy - Providing continuous energy when the energy source is discontinuous For example, flywheels are used in reciprocating engines because the energy source, torque from the engine, is intermittent
- What are the benefits of a lightweight flywheel and why arent they . . .
The flywheel keeps your engine spinning The inertia of a flywheel is in direct proportion to the mass of the flywheel Newton's first law of motion states, "An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force"

I thought it might be a compression problem, but I have found that the fly wheel spins while the crankshaft doesn’t as long as the spark plug is in I took off the flywheel, expecting to see a sheared pin, or a key Instead, I found the flywheel has an inner piece that is allowing the outside of the fly wheel to spin while the crankshaft
- engine - What are the differences between a dual mass flywheel and a . . .
A dual mass flywheel (or DMF) is a flywheel that is split into two halves (hence the name ), with a spring or springs between them to dampen out sudden changes in torque and rotation speed, and thus smoothen out vibrations in the drivetrain - making for a smoother drive, particularly in diesel engined vehicles, and the newer two and three cylinder engines that aren't as smooth as a properly
- Stihl 090 Flywheel contacting ignition coil
Hello All Stihl 090 Actual age unknown Guessing 1978 No S N on unit Has electronic ignition No chain brake Die cast Magnesium body and covers No plastic Tillotson HL-324 Carb, though "ML324A937" is etched into carb body When I pulled the starter to check spark, I heard and felt a light
- If my starter is spinning but not engaging flywheel, what is the issue . . .
The mechanism to engage the flywheel is faulty, probably it is seized, or battery doesn't have enough power to make the solenoid fully pull the mechanism (check battery charge) Hit the solenoid "moderately" with a mechanic hammer, one or two dry blows, if next crank try works, then the mechanism is getting seized and needs maintenance
- Has Anyone Ever Seen a Bad Flywheel Cause No Spark?
The flywheel has a broken fin that did some damage to the flywheel The magnets got ground down a bit The stock flywheel has two magnets covers with a plastic membrane and a plastic divider between the two The damaged flywheel is missing this membrane and divider I'd never imagine some damage to the magnets would cause no spark

QUESTION - I have a flywheel 1203 1204 with a single keyway, when I line up the magnets with a dual keyway 1203 flywheel the single keyway lines up with the 1:00 keyway rather than the 12:00 keyway when viewed from the outboard side So is this a limited or unlimited flywheel?? Thanks Dave 44 86 is instructions for stocking parts for the new
