Hello, I have just received Forstner’s bullet bracelet today I would like to hear your thoughts on it Here are my first impressions; it feels comfortable but noticeable behind the oem bracelet in terms of quality, and end link fitment is fine My main complaint about the oem bracelet is the fact that it doesn’t taper

You can buy excellent individual Forstner bits in High Speed Steel from places like Lee Valley High Speed Steel is pretty much compulsory for Forstner bits as it doesn't loose its hardness when heated past smoking hot, unlike High Carbon Steel which is junk once its gone blue Since you are on a budget and have a set of bits now, just replace the ones you use For smaller holes get HSS Brad

I would use a forstner bit But, I would also clamp or otherwise locate a piece of blocking on the underside of where the hole is being drilled in order to prevent blowout And if you did that you could get away with a nice new spade bit with cutting spurs

Other than forstner bits, hole saw bits and paddle bits, but there are many situations where you specifically need a twist style drill bit to drill or enlarge a hole

Any experience with Forstner Brands? I love the look of the classic 60s and 70s bracelet and it looks like Forstner does a nice job replicating it, but im worried a $175 bracelet won’t do the Speedy justice Any thoughts?

All of the marples forstner bits I have purchased have been dull as well, with obviously rounded over cutters I recently picked up a Diablo 1 1 4" at it was a different design and very sharp

They are much easier to sharpen These also tend to be more durable than a Forstner and are less sensitive to overheating and have a larger effective speed range (rpm) For all those calling this a Forstner bit, you should get to know the difference, as both have their individual advantages due to their design differences
