If the Fram Ultra air filter from Walmart is better (as Fram claim it is) vs the Fram basic filter tested here, then that is clearly the best buy on efficiency and longevity and price Just need to examine it to make sure it's quality has not gone down like their oil filters They should test the German and Japanese air filters

I was using a Mobil 1 filter (a good option) and, thanks to doing this comparison, moving forward I will be using a Fram Titanium filter paired with Mobil 1 Supercar 5w50 oil All 8 Filters are ultimately made by 2 parent companies: First Brands (Fram, Champion Labs - AC Delco) and Mann-Hummel (Purolator, Wix, Bosch, Mobil 1)

The FRAM FE10575 is reported to be a very good filter but there is a significant difference in the inlet hole sizes The bypass setting for the FE10575 and PF63 are roughly the same at 22 ish If I go to the FRAM website and enter in the search bar a 22 GMC 2500 6 6 401 cid (that would be the gas engine) the FE10575 comes up as recommended

The modern Fram Ultra is no longer wire backed but it still has great efficiency The Wix XP is still wire backed last time I checked but the efficiency is a rock catcher What are you looking for in your filter? How long a service interval? How important is filtering efficiency? Etc

Fram still shows the non-wire backed Ultra having the same efficiency and "up to" 20K mileage use rating Fram has also gone to a louvered center tube on the Ultras and Endurance models that I've seen
