There is a clause in the calculation of FVF with respect to shipping in that if you offer a slow shipping method, and a faster shipping method for an additional fee, and if the buyer selects the faster shipping method, you will not be charged FVF on the difference of the least expensive shipping offered and the selected shipping speed

When category are you selling in? Keep in mind, the FVF also includes the transaction fee and sales tax collected If your item sells for $100 + $10 tax, you're paying the FVF on $110 If you go to your payouts, you can click on each transaction for a breakdown if fees

Cost of doing business Yes, paypal was cheaper since only the paypal fee considered tax as part of their fee (ebay fvf was still only item + shipping, not including tax) Now the entire FVF includes tax, so in high tax regions, you could end up with a slightly higher fee than what it was on paypal

I don't like selling fees anymore than any other costs, but imo this one isn't unreasonable, it's less than 1 percent on a typical sale If Ebay instead raised the fvf by that amount it would be the same thing Ebay creating a race for sellers to add 2, 5, 10 percent for "promotion", now that's something scary that has real, significant impact
