The G3 Ares BTR 4 5-27 has a 30mm tube with 50mm objective It has 24 mils travel and like you said is lighter weight The turrets don't lock and the windage is exposed The ETR G2 4 5-30 is the heaviest at 36 oz, has 32 mils travel and locking windage Likely the best Chinese glass

Just pressing out the old G3 barrel and pressing in a new "match" barrel, while certainly an "upgrade" won't necessarily give you "match" quality results at the end of the day Lots going into the accuracy equation with any HK roller-lock type built

Re: ITT G3's They work fine I just dont know how much they have been used I was told they probably have less than 50 hrs on them All I have is the goggle and a black ITT bag I do believe they are Gen 3 because they are waaaaayyyyyyyyy clearer than a Gen 2 monocular I have looked thru

The receiver on a G3 (and its clones civilian models) is a single piece of stamped-and-folded steel, so I don't actually think you can replace it, except for buying a new one But I don't think you'll live long enough to need to, either Rollers on the bolt and or the barrel, around 10K rounds before you might want to think about replacement

As for optics the length of the scope, combined with the size of the bell is the biggest difficulty in mounting a scope to any HK91 G3 type clone rifle, including your PTR-91 Like others have said, the longer the scope, and larger the bell, the more difficult it can make proper operation of the cocking lever
