YEAH !!! thats a 450 Marlin --18" with brake-- Stock TC Barrel and IT IS LOUDDDDD -- but really the TC custom shop and many other custom shops will make you a barrel from 16 1 4 " to 26" for an encore carbine and really if you try a TC carbine with a short Barrel usually you will not want or need a real short barrel once you shoulder one of the guns ??

The only safety features on old contenders is the small lever on the hammer to change between rim fire and center fire rounds dead center is " safe "no hammer lock transfer safety device - check and see if this selector is in the correct position-- and I would remove the barrel- remove the grip stock and give it a good de-greasing-cleaning and then re lube with a good gun lube- pay attention
