Here's the problem, the stihl setting gage seems to set the air gap too tight, like 0 004" measured between the ignition module arms and the flywheel magnets using a feeler gage set It seems as though the center coil pick up on the ignition module has a wider air gap Now my question, what is the proper way to measure an ignition module air gap?

Just picked up a new set of plugs to go with my freshly installed HEI conversion, from Dave Ray, and they are all gapped at 045 I thought they were set up out of the box for points at 035 Maybe not, but will be at the outer limit for the HEI Just putting this out there for anyone running

I did a experiment 018 gap was about as big you can get and still have spark Back then I was having trouble with coils After a lot of research I found that spark plugs was the problem For me a brand new coil will be destroyed in 20 minutes using a non resister spark plug

Things that determine resistance is the plug wire conductor (metal conducts better than carbon impregnated fiberglass strands), the spark gap, and the resistance in the plug (the R in the designation of an AC-delco plug denotes an internal air gap to prevent power from bleeding off too soon)
