I had the HSHSB model and had a similar problem with a Canon DSLR I tested the contacts and the flash fired when the centre pin and edge were shorted I checked with a volt meter and found that the polarity was incorrect with the centre pin showing -4 volts It looks like DSLR's are sensitive to the hot shoe polarity I contacted Wein and they offered to exchange it for a unit with a positive voltage at the centre pin
