The story goes the Gibson J-160e was originally going to be the "Les Paul Flattop", but Les would not sign-off on the model with the solid spruce top (which would feedback much more than a laminated 3-ply top) So by 1955 Gibson changed the J-160e's top (and back) to plywood (but Les still never endorsed the model)

Simply checking a serial number with Gibson yields just about the same result, becuase real numbers are showing up on fakes Gibson needs photos and the serial# for a proper ID

Thanks for contacting Gibson Brands Your serial number was used on a 2005 Les Paul Standard Faded model which had satin honeyburst finish, nickel hardware, ‘50’s round profile mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, mahogany body with carved maple top and Burstbucker Pro humbucking pick-ups
