  • Yet another grinder thread . . . . | KnifeDogs. com Forums
After looking through more than a few posts here, talking with quite a few makers, I've narrowed the list down to KMG-TX, TW-90, Wilmont, Reeder or Northridge The TW-90 only has one tool arm slot, 1 25" arms and tracking adjustmentat the motor, which seems to make it an outlier in the market
  • Pheer or Ameribrade Grinder | KnifeDogs. com Forums
A comment on the compression vs tension springs The first grinder I built was a pretty close copy of the KMG clone with tension spring Tracking was so-so For whatever reason, I never fully understood why, but after I changed to compression the tracking improved It might be nothing more than the amount of tension that was put on the belt
  • Comparing Grinders. the 2x72 type | KnifeDogs. com Forums
For grinder use, put VFD in box or good filters over the air inlet and they work just fine for a fraction of the cost Can't imagine one being easier to setup then the last Chinese VFD I got It has a very good English manual with only a few pages and only 33 (??) parameters that can be changed, and only 2 or 3 of those actually need changing
  • Shocking Grinder - KnifeDogs. com Forums
Gosh I hate that static shock thing at the grinder!! I didn't read through all responses, but can tell you that it has a lot to do with humidity At anything less then 45% static becomes huge issue in my shop, with any machine Either grounding as has been mentioned, or what I do is a humidifier in the shop
  • WIP: Full Featured 2x72 for under $1500 . . . - KnifeDogs. com Forums
You can have a welder + 2x72 grinder for under 2K Not too shabby Brian Housewert is the creator of the plans, cut kit, and outstanding YouTube video instructional series for this grinder
  • Disk grinder - KnifeDogs. com Forums
The 120vac grinder you are speaking of - this one? https: goo gl kjKfA4 I'd be happier if it were on a 1750 rpm motor rather than 3450 rpm motor, but either will work just fine A VFD speed control is VERY important for a disk grinder I made one using a 1725 rpm 1ph motor, and tried to control speed with a foot switch, but that didn't work so
  • Looking for Grinder Recommendations | KnifeDogs. com Forums
The misting topic is a good point for an aluminum grinder, but I wet my belts with a sponge and haven't had any major rusting issues on my AmeriBrade yet after doing that for a couple of years I run their small wheel attachment, Combo platen with 6" rubber and 2" rubber wheels
  • Grinders - KnifeDogs. com Forums
In a 2x72 grinder, weight equals stability, increases smoothness, and helps significantly reduce vibration Anytime tubing is used in the construction of a grinder, it's just building in vibration and chatter
