So I found out that you have to wait for one of the iphone users to message the old group chat first for it to convert to RCS If you (the Android) user initiates 1st message after the IOS 18 update it initiates a new separate group chat To fix this, delete the RCS group chat, then have one of the iphone members send a reply in the old SMS MMS group chat and it will convert to RCS

Group Messages Are Broken and come as individual messages I'm a part of a number of group chats within Google messages For the last month or so, group messages have been broken when messaging with people who do not use the app For example I'm in a chat with 2 other people, 1 using an iPhone and 1 using an android with Google messages
