- HELP: Barrel Shortening Crowning- What Gunsmith would you recommend?
Looking at having a 22lr barrel shortened and crowned Its a 1 250" straight Currently its 26" but I would like it at 24" Would also like it to get Cerakoted What gunsmith would you recommend? Please drop the name below Thanks everyone!

I do all my rifle-building in my gunsmith shop on a G4016 lathe It's easy to take up and take down (I had to move my shop once) and has done long range target rifles and hunting rifles (as well as several AR barrel configurations) The army AMU test fired one of my rifles and it fired 1 2 MOA at 800 yards

I have used GA Firing Line gunsmith numerous times and always had good experience Threaded a couple of barrels for suppressors Tapped a 22 for scope mount Cerakoted one rifle Few othe misc things

In either case, you really need to get a gunsmith involved If you are lucky enough to hit the headspace when screwing the barrel on the first time, you don't need to do either, but you won't know without gauges Taking the original barrel off and installing the new barrel requires a barrel vise and an action wrench Good to know, thanks!
