Hapkido looks similarly fascinating, and obviously being Korean peeked my curiosity Anyone know of organisationsin the UK, specifically the Nottingham area? Is there anything I should specifically look for avoid in Hapkido circles? Don't want to start any controversy, just looking to get more informed

JimH Valued Member What we do is pure Hapkido based so we Do not spar,we just work static and dynamic forms of self Defense,so we wear no special gear

We do both In general I find the WTF forms to be a bit easier to pick up, quicker to do and bit faster The ITF forms are a bit longer and seem more complex Granted I think part of this is the use of the walking stances in the WTF forms, which make it a bit more applicable to the sparring style

In YON MU KWAN Hapkido, the equivalent of the KOBUTAN is the SOH BONG (lit: "mini-stick") which is graded at CHODAN along with pressure-point work There is also a lanyard that goes along with the thrusting and striking methods as an intro to binding

Thomas Combat Hapkido Taekwondo this is stupid but when wearing all the sparring gear does it distract your view? and is the gear heavy? i am so interested in sparring and i cannot wait to start it! and if you could provide me with anymore info on sparring i would really appreciate it thanks!
