- 8 stripped hole threads for E4OD pan. . . going the helicoil route
In changing out my trans fluid, filter, and installing that little clip for the filter, I found that I have the joy of 8 stripped holes when trying to torque down the pan to 10 ft lbs All of the stripped holes are at that curved portion (can't remember if it was front or back) of the pan

At first, I thought someone had broken off a drain bolt, but from the inside, it's solid and continuous throughout the entire sump area I took a hammer and screwdriver to it to see if I could punch through anywhere

If you drill with the pan attached, you have no guarantee that you'll avoid hitting the filter pickup tube And, as pounder pointed out, you need access to both sides of the pan to install most drain-plug kits

For the filter, this pan has filter supports on the inside The pick up for the transmission fluid is at the same point with this pan and the stock pan No filter extension is needed

You can drill tap your stock E4OD pan if it doesn't have a plug Or you can go to the dealer buy a stock 4R100 pan with a plug for $50 call it a day Deeper pan does nothing but cost more to buy more to fill
