To get the best brined product, do you have to go to extremes? What I am getting at is this -- Do you thaw your frozen herring, or do you make your brine, get the brine near freezing, and then add the frozen herring? Then let everything come to the temperature of the refrigerator together? I

If you are asking if they work as an effective bait, then yes I am not sure about the Sandy, but I troll herring on the Coquille, Umpqua, and Coos Rivers with pretty darn good results
