In short, Miura hadn't really fleshed out guts' character at the time so these first two pages are more or less considered non canon as they hold little bearing on the rest of the plot and make no sense regarding guts' fear of intimacy especially of the sexual sort

Berserk went through some weird changes in its publication back in the day, so the numbering on the episodes is a little off The story begins properly at "The Black Swordsman", which is the first episode in the first volume "Sword Wind" is numbered as #1 but it actually comes in Volume 5

Honest opinion I love it knowing everything I know now about it I would hear kentaro regretting how he started it off but he landed it like it was nothing At least to me Guts got revenge for the corkus the guy who was always talking shit but still mattered

Every page you colored except the first was already colored by miura, that's why the have such a different shading compared to the other pages, his colours were a mix of red orange and cold green, sending the links in a minute

Real world answer: To show that berserk was a mature story meant for older people, and if the reader were to get upset at the first page, they would stop reading, because the story wasn't going to be to their liking
