Every family in Vermont has the right to educate their own children All students in Vermont must be enrolled at an approved public or independent school or enroll in a Home Study program

Vermont requires all students between the age of 6 and 16 to be enrolled in a home study program, independent school or public school by the beginning of each school year

Ultimately, as their Home Study educator, you are responsible for making the decisions about what specific topics your student will be studying and what methods you will use to teach them
- Home Study - Data Collection and Reporting Knowledge Base
Principals are asked to accept documentation of submission of materials (Cognito receipt, sent email, USPS proof of mailing) for any student whose Parent Guardian says they have applied to home study but who is not yet on the updated list of enrolled and pending students
- Home Study Enrollment – Independent Professional Evidence
For each child not previously enrolled in a Vermont public school or Vermont home study program, independent professional evidence regarding whether the child has a documented disability and how the disability may affect the student’s educational progress in a home study program

To enroll a student in a Home Study program for the first time, submit this form and an Independent Professional Evidence form (or provide a copy of a Vermont public school report card)

Have the Early College element written into their Personalized Learning Plan (PLP) (For Home Study, the student and parent or guardian are responsible for developing their MCOS PLP, which serves as their PLP ) and must be submitted to the Agency of Education
