What do you guys use to lubricate the impeller when your changing it I have seen some people use grease but I don't really want to run that through the engine, unless anybody out there knows that it's OK Will dish soap work?

So here is the real deal If you use your boat the impeller wears, needs replacing If you don't use your boat the impeller sits in the housing with the blades bent over and looses it's elasticity So either way it goes bad Suggested replacement interval is every other year

Re: Bravo 1 impeller FWIW - The sea water impeller is worth checking every 50 engine hours and replacing at 100 hour intervals (unless it looks really good) I added a sea water strainer to the intake hose that leads to the raw water pump It has vastly improved the longevity of the impeller and avoided down stream clogs at the oil cooler, etc

Re: Overheating after new impeller Looks what happens in you have a working impeller I replaced the new one with the old one: Sounds like you may have had the wrong impeller What was the part number of your new impeller that didn't work? and what is the full model number or serial number of your engine?
