Kia Hyundais aren't necessarily poorly built cars, they just tend to be purchased by lower income folks that can't always afford to splurge on maintenance I guess to answer your question of if you should buy a Kia Rio, if the price tag is the only reason you're looking at it and you don't budget for the cost of keeping it running, I'd skip it
