FYI, a M4 extension will work just fine in a receiver not cut for the extension The only problem is when you run an extension with out M4 ramps in a receiver with M4 ramps cut into it This creates a lip where the noses of bullets can catch

When zeroing the M4 at 25m, set the BDC to 6 3 +2 Make all your elevation changes on the front sight so the BDC will work Center your group in the lower half of the center bullseye At 200yds, your bullet is 11" high so you want to be a little low when zeroing otherwise you may shoot over the top of the 175-200m target HTH Good Luck qualifying!

Most M4 and heavy barrels do Pencil barrels step down to about 0 610-0 615" diameter So, you couldn't use standard base journal sizes like you suggest (Yes, you could bore out the pencil's 0 625 to fit the M4 barrel) There is a company that makes one piece stand alone bayonet lugs (the name escapes me), but mostly for AKs
