- How does this MOSFET based motor driver designed work
Make sure the MOSFET's ON resistance is specified for Vgs <= your PWM drive voltage (i e read the datasheet) If you pick one where Rds (on) is specified at Vgs = 10V and you're driving it from 5V or less, it WON'T act as an on-off switch; it'll waste power, get hot, and won't drive the motor properly
- Understanding MOSFET characteristics - Electrical Engineering Stack . . .
I am trying to select an n-channel MOSFET to switch a 12 V power rail The use case here is to switch on off a couple of LEDs which are wired in series The LEDs (datasheet) can draw a maximum of 7
- Mosfet usage and P- vs N-channel
I used an H-bridge and got that working fine Then, I decided to simplify things and get a single mosfet instead of a multi-channel H-bridge and have gotten myself very confused I'm trying to understand the proper way to use a P-channel (or N-channel) mosfet in this setting, and came across this sample circuit on google:
- mosfet - In an NMOS, does current flow from source to drain or vice . . .
Conventional current flows from Drain to Source in an N Channel MOSFET The arrow shows body diode direction in a MOSFET with a parasitic diode between source and drain via the substrate
- mosfet - Solenoid driver circuit with peak hold - Electrical . . .
That driver can be a small relay, a low-side BJT or mosfet driver, etc It just needs to hard-switch, our circuit will take care of switching from the 12V supply to the hold supply
- How are MOSFET gate capacitances (Cgs, Cgd) calculated?
6 Your equations are approximations to the capacitance seen between G-D and G-S of a mosfet in different regions of operation and they are derived based on the physical characteristics of the mosfet Keep in mind that the physical mosfet is a symmetric device
- When is a MOSFET more appropriate as a switch than a BJT?
For an N-channel MOSFET (NMOS), for instance, which can switch current from Drain to Source, the body diode goes in the opposite direction, pointing from Source to Drain So, feel free to take advantage of this body diode when necessary, or just use the MOSFET as a diode directly
- mosfet - How to design the gate resistor value? - Electrical . . .
Questions: 1) How to calculate the MOSFET input resistor? 2) What are the factors affecting the MOSFET input resistor calculation? 3) What will be the maximum, minimum resistor value possible and effect in the circuit if the resistor value is changed (Increased or decreased) ? Please let me know if any further info is required
