I am running Motul 8100-Clean Gen 2 5w-40 after dumping Redline Performance (Ester) 5w-30 Euro that I was priced out of by inflation So far so good, did a UOA and everything was good, it was the first try and still had some Redline mixed in The Redline stayed a tad cleaner longer then the Motul I dump at 3,250-3,500

- The high density of the Motul shows a significant ester content, but the higher Brookfield numbers on the Motul shows that the overall oil is made with slightly lower quality components than the HPL- even though the measured viscosity is much lower, the cP @ -40*C is higher, indicating the Motul is harder to circulate with the paddle in the test

I have Motul in my Mazda now, it runs great I have used Liquimoly Molygen recently and it was also good oil, I saw increased fuel economy with Liquimoly Again, you'll pay a little more for them because Motul is imported from France and Liquimoly from Germany, but they're both reputable and of good quality I say take your pick and go for it

I did an oil change soon after at 43K using Motul 8100 X-cess 5w40 gen2 based on a detailed oil thread on the F80 Bimmerpost forum The last oil change was at 38K prior to my ownership and based on a conversation with the previous owners mechanic they used 0w-40 Mobil (not sure what spec) Reasons for my choice

A couple of years agai Motul Specific was one of the few 508 509 0w20 oils you could find easily Loads more options now though And prices for Motul Specific 508 509 have gone crazy recently, like £117 for 5 litres crazy in some Websites and eBay sellers
