- restaurants in Manarola - Rick Steves Travel Forum
If you have Rick's Italy guidebook, you'll see his suggestions for restaurants in Manarola Here are some restaurants from that book: The vast majority of the town's restaurants (all of them decidedly touristy) are concentrated in the tight zone between Piazza Capellini and the harbor While these are mostly interchangeable, the Scorza family works hard at Trattoria il Porticciolo (€7-10
- Cinque Terre: Vernazza or Manarola? - Rick Steves
The thing I came to appreciate about Manarola (and we stayed there 3 times versus 1 time in Vernazza) is that there seem to be fewer stairs and more ramps sloping sidewalks paths It is level to-and-from the train station (through the tunnel) It is also quieter at night
- Manarola vs Riomaggiore? - Rick Steves Travel Forum

Laura, Of the two, Manarola will likely be quieter especially if you choose lodgings slightly uphill from the harbour area The harbour area of Vernazza is somewhat "enclosed" with buildings, which tends to create somewhat of an "echo chamber" Vernazza is somewhat compact, so it doesn't seem to handle crowds as well as some of the other towns

I stayed in Manarola at Alla Porta Rossa and loved it As others have stated, Manarola (and specifically Alla Porta Rossa), is quieter than most of the other towns
