Firstly, Mangos are marginal here in SoCal and although they can withstand the cold in some counties of Southern California, they cannot easily grow unprotected in many other counties of SoCal Mango growth is heavily influenced by climate and wether new growth is vegetative (leaves and shoots) or floral is primarily dependent on temperature

Which mangos seem to be the most disease resistant in Southern California, independent of whether they are the best tasting? The varieties that Leo Manuel are very reliable They are not necessarily disease resistant, they get Powdery Mildew, but they set and mature fruit regardless

In SoCal even grafted Valencia prices are pretty small raggedy trees unfortunately Got one in 25 gallon hoping to get a massive mango shade tree and somehow it has shrank over the years It is finally growing and fruiting, but very slow growth due to fruiting It really must be quite different growing mangos in Cali opposed to Florida!

Does the 10-15 ft spacing rule apply to dwarf mangos?I can't speak to the long term outcome, but I think you could probably get away with 8 foot spacing I have a row of dwarf mango trees planted somewhere between 8-10 feet apart If you can offset the middle tree a couple of feet rather than doing a straight line, that will give a little extra breathing room I did a row of White Piri - Ice
